Oculoplastic (cosmetic / aesthetic) uses of Botulinum toxin
It is commonly used for:
glabella lines - the vertical frown lines just between and above the two eyebrows (
corrugator supercill muscle
)
horizontal forehead creases and lines (
frontalis muscle
)
"smile" wrinkles and lines at the outer corners of each eye (
orbicularis oculi muscle
)
to lift the eyebrows higher by injecting the muscles which help pull them down (
orbicularis oculi muscle
)
It is used with great care for:
the marionette lines which pull the corners of the mouth down (
depressor anguli oris muscle
)
poppy dimples on the chin (
mentalis muscle
)
upper lip vertical lines (
